The Shelby Township Board of Trustees awarding of an industrial facilities tax exemption certificate for the Paslin Company paved the way for a new 166,000-square-foot facility and 180 new jobs.

βI am very excited to welcome the Paslin Company to Shelby Township for a number of reasons,β Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis said. βFirst, it represents a significant investment in our community and reaffirms what we already know -- there is not a better place to live, work, and do business than Shelby Township.

βOn a greater scale, though, when a company like Paslin, which has relationships with our local auto industry, is ready to expand it is definitely a positive sign that the regional economy is strong and getting stronger.β
Paslinβs new facility, which will open in early 2015, will house design, engineering and assembly personnel as the newest tenant at Cherry Creek Corporate Park located just north of the new 100,000-square-foot JVIS-USA facility that is currently under construction.
βCherry Creek Corporate Park, which has an amazing location on Shelby Parkway between 23 Mile and 24 Mile roads, just east of the M-53 Expressway, is a great asset because of its location and access to the regional market,β Stathakis said. βBut it would not be in such a great position to succeed without the effort and investment of its owner, Mr. Eugene DβAgostini, to make the most of that parcel.β
βI have been in the development industry for over 40 years, and have experienced a wide variety of personalities and community attitudes,β DβAgostini said. βIn contrast to some communities, Shelby Township is quick to assist and is helpful in achieving business interests if they are reasonable and well-conceived.β
Officials from Paslin said it was a combination of the existing available workforce in Shelby Township and the availability of a site that was ready to build on, as well as the hard work of Township officials in the Planning, Assessing and Building departments that made Shelby Township a fit for their growth.
βGiving Paslin a place to expand was a total team effort, and it proves that what Shelby Township is doing is appealing to the regionβs business leaders,β Stathakis said. βShelby Township is a very unique asset in metro Detroit in that we offer a remarkable place to live and build or expand a business.
βAnd the great work of folks like Assessor Matt Schmidt, Planning Director Glenn Wynn and Building Director Tim Wood allows us to make sure that when companies are interested in doing business here, we are ready for them.β
