Shelby Township Woman, 79, Found Dead Inside Home, Man Arrested: Cops

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was arrested in connection to the "suspicious" death of a woman whose body was found inside a Shelby Township home Thursday, according to police.

Officers found the 79-year-old woman dead inside her home in the 14000 block of Stoney Brook W. Drive around 3 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Police did not release details surrounding the woman's death, but confirmed officers found the incident "suspicious."

The investigation led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Macomb Township man, who was known to the victim, police said.

No further details about the investigation were released by police.

A warrant for second-degree murder was authorized Friday afternoon by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. His formal arraignment was scheduled for Monday.

"More information will be released once the suspect is formally arraigned," Shelby Township Sgt. Mark Benedettini said. "No further information will be released by this department at this point in time."

Police were still investigating the incident.
