Shop Shelby: Arena Bridal and Formal

Arena Bridal and Formal continues the traditions first started by its original owner. More than 73 years after first opening its doors in Detroit, the store is now a popular destination for brides in Shelby Township.

Owner Janise Ventimiglia has been running Arena Bridal for more than 11 years in Shelby Township. Janise met her husband Peter Ventimiglia when she visited the store as a customer in Detroit many years ago. Peter took over the store when his mother decided to retire. 

Today, Janise runs the store with the help of her mother Marge Sieli and four daughters, Elizabeth, Gina, Margaret and Antonia, as well as her niece Aubrey. 

Arena Bridal carries bridal gowns, mother of the bride gowns, special occasion, prom and flower girl dresses. The store also carries veils, tiaras, belts and head pieces.

The store is known for its customer service. "We will cater to anyone. We do not discriminate against anyone that may only have $600 or $700 to spend. They get just as much of a treatment as someone who spends $5,000," said Janise. The dresses at Arena range anywhere from $500 up to $7,000.

Arena Bridal even offers personal dressing and fitting rooms for each bride. Each room is named after children in the Ventimiglia family. Every bride and mother of the bride also receives free alterations for dresses purchased at the store. Many of the seamstresses that work at Arena have been with the store since the very beginning. 

Some popular brands include Maggie Sottero and Lazaro.

Prom dresses are currently 50 percent off for any last-minute shoppers.
