Stevenson Class of 2016 pledges to Remember the Titans

"We’re going to do big things, meet great people, and become even greater ones ourselves because we’re Titans, and we won’t allow ourselves to be forgotten," said student speaker Katie Capozello."We’re Titans, and we’ll be the change we want to see. We’re Titans, and we’ll do the things we set out to do. We’re Titans, and we’ll succeed, because it is who we are."
Her thoughts were echoed by the second student speaker, Paul Hanges.
"We made a promise to stand by each other, grow with each other, and empower each other," he said. "The Class of 2016 is one big Titan family that can handle any challenge."
Other stage speakers celebrated the accomplishments of the graduates and their ability to lead the future.
Noting the rapid pace of societal change, Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said graduates are poised take the success they achieved as Titans to a new level.
"You are the new generation of leaders, dreamers, creators, and entrepreneurs," Dr. Johns said.
Board of Education Vice President Gene Klida told the graduates the question UHS students will face in their bright futures is "how will you use that preparation to not only succeed in the world, but to make it better."
Principal Steven Pfannes acknowledged the accomplishments of the graduates, including 27 valedictorians, 3 salutatorians, 94 presidential awards for educational excellence, 39 UCS AP scholars and $9 million in scholarships.
