Stevenson students capture international honors at HOSA

Three Stevenson High School medical careers students have earned top national honors in a competition focused on the future of health care.

Three Stevenson High School medical careers students have earned top national honors in a competition focused on the future of health care.

Alyssa Polizzi, Yue Yan Feng and Shania Luk earned national recognition at the first HOSA: Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference in Nashville Tennessee in late June.

Awards earned include:

- Polizzi took third place in the Veterinary Science Event against approximately 80 competitors.

- Yue Yan Feng and Shania Luk placed the Top 10 in the Community Emergency Response Team Event competing against approximately 50 other teams.

Students earned entry into the national competition after receiving top honors at the state conference.

Stevenson High School School medical careers students Anthony Cholagh, Aakash Dave, Sherwin Shaji and Anju John also qualified for the national tournament. Henry Ford II medical careers students also qualifying were Peyton Collins, Alexandra Manailla, Kush Patel and Joseph Nambiathusseril.

HOSA is a national student organization of 120,000 members from 47 states. HOSA has more than 3,200 secondary and post-secondary chapters, 76 of which are in Michigan.

HOSA's mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care.
