Stevenson High School students lead the leaders this year at the Michigan Associations of Student Councils and Honor Societies annual conference.
The Stevenson Student Council sponsored this year's event and was responsible for organizing the weeked leadershp conference.
"Hosting states was an amazing experience for us," said Stevenson student Ronnie Milanowski. "It's taught us so much about hard work and leadership and how to work around things that we cannot control. We became even closer than before as a council and were truly like a family. The most rewarding part of this experience was the positive reactions we received from the attendees if the conference."
Held in Traverse City, the conference was an opportunity for students to meet with leadership representatives from Michigan in center meetings, structured activities, student showcase presentations, motivational speakers, dinner and and an awards banquet.
"This weekend was the greatest weekend of my life," said Maria Muzzi. "It was completely worth the 18 months of endless work, laughter, lifting boxes, dry runs, tears, on the spot decisions, battle scars, conference calls, poster prints, meetings, dancing, learning lessons, video edits, recordings, organization, planning, amazing friendships, and unforgettable memories."
Council Advisor Lisa Lucas said: "My kids put their heart and soul into hosting this conference, planning for the past 18 months. Even today I still can't put into words how proud I am of them. What they did this past weekend was nothing short of incredible. "
In addition to participating in leadership activities, students also raised funds for Special Olympics of Michigan.
