Summer break brings $20 million in facility improvements to UCS

Projects are the first phase of $155 million bond issue approved by voters in November, 208

The end of the school year is ushering in the start of a scheduled five-year facility improvement program in Utica Community Schools.

The improvements are focused on three critical areas: safety and security; infrastructure improvements identified through the district’s long-range facility program; and technology.

“Through a clear strategic direction, our voters in November overwhelmingly approved a $155 million bond issue that will impact every school and every student in our district,” Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said. “Utica Community Schools is committed to managing the taxpayer-approved funds responsibly.”
