Avon Gear Company Receives Exemption Certificate
The board of trustees approved an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate for Avon Gear Company, located at 11968 Investment Drive. The certificate reduces the taxes the company pays on new investments for the next five years.

Residents at the Shelby Manor Apartments will pay $12 more a month in maintenance fees starting Jan. 1. The increase will help the facility pay for ongoing upkeep such as new water heaters, carpeting, etc. The increase will also be used to replace the facility’s aging roof.
Construction of 110,000 Square-foot Addition Approved for US Farathane

Trustees agreed to allow officials at US Farathane, 11650 Park Court, to expand their facility and parking to accommodate a 110,000 square-foot addition. The company will also erect a privacy fence.
Township Approves 2012 Budget
After reviewing budget numbers for the general fund, police, and fire funds, Trustees approved the budget numbers for 2012. The police and fire funds will operate on a deficit.
Public Act 152 Adopted by Board
The Board of Trustees voted to approve the Public Act 152, Publicly Funded Health Insurance, which means some township employees will pay 20 percent of their health care costs starting with the new year. Township employees currently pay $33 per pay period.
Logos.net Payroll, Investment Fund Approved
A service agreement was approved for Logos.net, allowing the township to upgrade its payroll software. The cost of the upgrade is $11,400. Likewise, a health care investment fund for retirees and the hiring of a full-time Ordinance Enforcement Officer was also supported.
Sewer Lead to be Built
Wozniak Underground will build a sanitary sewer lead at 55461 Mound Road to replace the current lead, built in 1978. rustee Douglas Wozniak has no connection to the company.
Township Approves New Ambulance
The Shelby Township fire department will receive a new ambulance at a cost of $170,034. By ordering the vehicle now, the township receives a 2 percent savings on the cost of the ambulance.
Meeting canceled
Due to the holidays, the board voted to cancel the Jan. 3 meeting.
