Three UCS teachers were honored for driving instruction every day in the Utica Community Schools.
For one of the teachers, that honor was literal, thanks to the generous donation of a one-year lease of a car of her choice from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights.
UCS Teachers of the Year for 2014 are:
- Martha Dolenga, a first-grade teacher at Havel Elementary
- Susan Clark, a math and science teacher at Shelby Junior High School
- Julia Holt, choir teacher at Eisenhower High School and Malow Junior High School
Teachers were honored by district, businesses and community members at a celebration on March 19.
As part of the celebration, Dolenga was surprised by officials from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights with the offer for a one-year lease of a car.
Other sponsors for the celebration were Integrated Design Solutions, Barton Malow Company, and Utica Community Schools.
