UCS Celebrates its Teachers of the Year

Three UCS teachers were honored for driving instruction every day in the Utica Community Schools.

For one of the teachers, that honor was literal, thanks to the generous donation of a one-year lease of a car of her choice from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights.

UCS Teachers of the Year for 2014 are:

  • Martha Dolenga, a first-grade teacher at Havel Elementary
  • Susan Clark, a math and science teacher at Shelby Junior High School
  • Julia Holt, choir teacher at Eisenhower High School and Malow Junior High School
Teachers are honored for their outstanding efforts to represent the instructional quality in UCS schools.

Teachers were honored by district, businesses and community members at a celebration on March 19.

As part of the celebration, Dolenga was surprised by officials from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights with the offer for a one-year lease of a car.
Other sponsors for the celebration were Integrated Design Solutions, Barton Malow Company, and Utica Community Schools.
