UCS grad helps design Google's future

2010 graduate Jesse Gilbert helps design introduction of new logo

A Utica Community Schools graduate is helping to put in motion a redesigned logo for Google.

Jesse Gilbert, a 2010 graduate of Utica High School, was one of the lead designers on the animation that announced google’s first logo change in 15 years.

The company switched from a new sans-serif logo to a four-color “G” symbol.

The animation reflects a “wiping away of the past,” according to the company.

Gilbert has served as the lead designer for previous Google ads. He also produces music videos, and was recently nominated for a Video Music Award for a video by popular singer Ariana Grande.

The animation ran on the site’s home page earlier this month.
