UCS junior high artists have work purchased by Crain Communication for office display

Three Utica Community Schools junior high school students have had their artwork purchased by Crain Communications, Detroit for their corporate collection.

Sofia Kurtaj, Hailey Jacobs and Sviatoslav Goroshok, of Bemis Junior High School, will have their work displayed in the hallways or offices at the company’s Detroit offices on Gratiot Avenue, near I-75 expressway.

Their teacher is Gail Borowski.

“I am thrilled to be adding three pieces of the series to the Crain collection." said Eric Walters, Director of Procurement & Facilities, Crain Communications. "I believe that when we invest in the arts, we invest in the next generation of innovators, leaders, and creative thinkers. It’s an honor to play a part in helping these students experience the joy and lifelong impact that the art can have.”

The student art was among works by 17 UCS students that were also selected to have their digital art work displayed at the building.

“It was such a pleasure for Crain Communications to display the art created by the art students at through our rotating art program curated by Amanda Koss,” Walters said. “The art was a big hit and topic of discussion with our employees. ‘So young, so talented,’ ‘The future looks bright with our next wave of artists,’ and ‘I wish we could keep them all.’ This is only a few of the comments I heard from our team while the art was on display!”
