UCS medical careers students earn international honors at health care leadership conference

Students earn top awards at HOSA leadership conference

Three Utica High School medical careers students have earned top national honors in a competition focused on the future of health care.

Brittney Hall, Mitchell Fraser and Rana Noori earned national recognition at the first HOSA: Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference in Nashville Tennessee in late June.

· Noori took first place in the Medical Terminology Event against approximately 80 competitors.

· Hall was awarded a National Health Profession Scholarship for $1000.00 to be used toward her future goal of becoming an Occupational Therapist at Western Michigan University. She earned one of six scholarships offered to Michigan HOSA students.

· Fraser was recognized placed in the Top 10 in the Medical Spelling Event after competing for eight rounds against 44 other national competitors.

Students earned entry into the national competition after receiving top honors at the state conference. Utica High School medical careers student Nina Campbell-Adkins also qualified for the national tournament.

HOSA is a national student organization of 120,000 members from 47 states. HOSA has more than 3,200 secondary and post-secondary chapters, 76 of which are in Michigan.

HOSA's mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care.
