UCS online tool will help recent graduates accelerate their college and career plans

Online tool that helped guide the UCS Class of 2016 on college and career decisions will continue to be available to the recent graduates.

An online tool that helped guide the Utica Community Schools Class of 2016 on college and career decisions will continue to be available to the recent graduates, according to district officials.

For the first time, the approximately 2,100 UCS graduates from this spring will have direct access to ordering their high school transcripts and will receive assistance in job and career goals through the online tool Naviance – Family Connection.

“Our district’s commitment to a college culture and helping our students follow their career dreams will continue to support them throughout their entire lives,” said superintendent Dr. Christine Johns. “Through Naviance, the school district will help guide and assist our students in their growth long after they have received their UCS diplomas.”

Utica Community Schools was one of the first school districts in Michigan to offer their students the college and career assistance tool Naviance. This is the third year the program has been offered in UCS for grades 9-12.
Naviance pulls together resources from many different sources for students to explore and develop plans for post-secondary success.
Information is available on wide-ranging topics such as career exploration, academic planning, college planning, test preparation and scholarship availability.
Through the Family Connection portion of the program, parents are also able to access their child’s profile that outlines the student’s interests, goal setting, course recommendations, college and career options and scholarship opportunities.

As students pursue their post-secondary experiences, the tool will still provide graduates the opportunity to explore career advancement, order their high school transcripts or look at further educational options related to their fields of interests.

To access the program, Class of 2016 members can visit http://succeed.naviance.com and use the log-in information they used as students. If they are not able to access the program, recent graduates should contact their school’s counseling department.
