UCS seniors honored as CTE students of the year

Two Utica Community Schools seniors were honored as Macomb County Career Technical Education students of the year.

Two Utica Community Schools seniors were honored as Macomb County Career Technical Education students of the year.

Ashley Michol, of Utica High School, and Andrew Morgan, of Stevenson High School, were honored at the 26th annual Career Technical Education awards breakfast February 6.

A student in the district’s medical careers program, Michol is building on her personal experiences to pursue a degree in nursing through Wayne State University.

She has taken part in all extra-curricular offerings of the medical careers program, including job shadowing, Future Nurses Club, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and National Technical Honor Society.

Michol also has raised funds for Multiple Sclerosis research.

Morgan is in the Design Engineering program. He has earned top honors in various individual and team competitions, such as ASBE (American Society of Body Engineers) Design Competition, Square One Innovative Vehicle Design, and MITS (Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society).

He plans to major in mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.
