UCS students earn healthy dose of top honors at state tournament

Utica Community Schools students took home a healthy number of top honors at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) state tournament in April.
State-level success in the following projects qualified these students for the national HOSA tournament scheduled this weekend in California:
- Biomedical Debate - Lexus Gargis, Rebecca Filimon, Alyssa Sanderson, Joana Lepuri of Utica Academy For International Studies
- Biomedical Laboratory Science Skill and Knowedge Test -Dominique Johnson of Stevenson High School
- Career Health Display - Noreen Mika and Harvey Puri of Utica Academy for International Studies
- Community Awareness AED Cognizance - Kara Bradley and Jessica DeGrieck of Stevenson High School
- Medical Innovation - Kush Patel, Joseph Nambiathusseril and Daniel Mathew of Henry Ford II High School
- Medical Terminology Knowledge Test - Rana Noori of Stevenson High School
- Public Service Announcement - Jamison Demaj, Albert George and Yunus Basheer of Henry Ford II High School
- Parliamentary Procedure - Moe Hassan, Alina Varghese, Evelyn Fadel, Christian Dondonan, Asim Ghani, Lark Steafo and Dylon Daoud of Utica Academy for International Studies
- Pathophysiology Knowledge Test - James Montgomery of Stevenson High School
- Veterinary Medicine Skill and Knowledge Test - Alyssa Polizzi of Stevenson High School
In addition, Henry Ford II High School advisor Karen Benson was selected Michigan HOSA Advisor of the Year.
