UCS students selected for State Honors Choirs
Students selected for middle school, jazz choirs

Ella Siwicki, a senior from Eisenhower High School, was selected to be a member of the MSVMA All-State Jazz Honors Choir. Only 20 students from across the state were selected for this honor and this is the second year that Ella has been included in this prestigious group. The choir performed under Dr. Kate Reid from the University of Miami who is a well-known jazz vocalist, director, and pianist. The students rehearsed and performed while each singing on their own microphone which emphasizes individual musicianship. Ella was chosen to sing two improvised solos during the performance.
Three members of the Malow Junior High School choirs were selected to participate in the MSVMA 7-8-9 SSA State Honors Choir. Catalina Bartello (9th), Meagan Mullett (8th), and Marija Jankovich (7th) performed on the stage at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids under the direction of Mrs. Samara Valla with 117 other singers from across the state. Over 1,000 students auditioned this fall to be a member of one of the three state honors choirs with only 250 students selected to participate.
