UCS students top MLK Day competition

Stevenson students take first place, honorable mention

Two Utica Community Schools students took top spots in the Interfaith Center for Racial Justice High School art competition.

Stevenson students Madalyn Czarski has won first place in the contest and Andrew Schwesinger has earned an honorable mention.

Both students will be honored at the organization's annual banquet on Monday, Jan. 16th. They will also be honored next month at the Charles A. Wright museum of African American History.

Czarski's piece will go on a traveling exhibit throughout Macomb County in 2017 and become part of a permanent display at the Macomb Intermediate School District building.
