UHS students excel by taking top spots in statewide Microsoft Office competition
Utica High School students take first and second spot in competition testing their knowledge of the Excel software.
Two Utica High School students took the top spots in a state competition that tests their skills using Microsoft office applications.
Senior Joe Halikos is the 2015 State Champion for Excel 2013 will represent Michigan in the U.S. National Microsoft Office Competition Championship on June 18-20 in Orlando, Florida.
In addition to receiving travel expenses to attend the national competition, Halikos also won a Microsoft Surface tablet in recognition of his achievement.
UHS senior Amy Yax placed second in the Excel competition, which tests how effectively students master the internationally-recognized software used for storing, organizing and manipulating data.
Yax received a Microsoft prize package.
The popular Microsoft Office competition is the only one endorsed by Microsoft, providing a platform for students to showcase their expert skills using Microsoft Office tools.
The competition is sponsored by both Microsoft and Certiport, a national business certification organization. To qualify, students take a certification exam developed by Certiport.
