Utica Community Schools hosts May 12 allergy awareness meeting featuring national expert

Presenter Kyle Dine will also host age-appropriate assemblies May 11 - 13 at six UCS elementary schools

Utica Community Schools will host a special informational night featuring a national expert on food allergy awareness May 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Henry Ford II High School, 11911 Clinton River Road in Sterling Heights.

Kyle Dine, a national expert and educator who speaks to schools across North America, will meet with parents to raise awareness of food allergies and their impact on schools and classrooms.

Dine will discuss the basics of food allergies - including common allergens, symptoms, and safety tips - and share anti-bullying messages. The nonprofit FAACT - Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Connection Team - will also host an informational booth that evening.

Dine will host age-appropriate assemblies during the day May 11 through 13 at six UCS elementary schools.

The parent meeting and assemblies are made possible by a grant through the Raise Your Hand for Anaphylaxis Awareness competition.
Nearly 25,000 UCS supporters voted for UCS during an on-line competition last year. The grant was awarded by Mylan Specialty - a specialty pharmaceutical company.
