Utica Community Schools senior earns Michigan community service award

Nikki Sorgi is a recipient of an MHSAA/Lake Trust Credit Union "Community Service Award"

A Henry Ford II senior has been honored with a statewide community service for helping to blanket a local children's hospital with the results of a three-year charity effort.

Nikki Sorgi is a recipient of an MHSAA/Lake Trust Credit Union “Community Service Award” for helping spearhead a campaign that stretched over the course of her high school career, with the co-leadership of her older sister Alex (a 2015 Ford graduate) and large contributions from her school’s National Honor Society chapter, student council and school store.

Sorgi's efforts has donated more than 400 blankets to the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital over the last three years.

The award includes a $1,000 scholarship for Sorgi, who is attending Bowling Green University next fall.
