RECAP: Utica Eisnehower Wins District Championship

Eagles shutout Romeo High School 13-0, continue playoff berth

Utica Eisenhower shutout Romeo High School 13-0 Friday night in a Division 1 District Championship game, extending their state playoff run.

With the win, Ike records a fourth consecutive shutout victory over an opponent and improves their record to 10-1. They defeated Romeo earlier in the season, much like their previous playoff opponent Dakota.

The game was a defensive struggle that held the Falcons to only two touchdowns and one missed extra-point attempt. Both their touchdowns came in the second quarter, with Shane King running the ball in for one score. Quarterback Joey Zerafa completed a pass to wide receiver Dan Chmielewski for the Falcons other touchdown.

Kicker Daniel Gojcaj missed one of two extra point attempts, essentially securing the score at 13-0. Eisenhower’s defense held Romeo’s offense even after a near triumphant march down field that ended in the red zone scoreless.

The Falcons will play their next game at Swinehart Field against visiting Walled Lake Central at 7 p.m. in round 3 of the playoff tournament.
