¡Bravo!
Utica High School’s National Hispanic Honor Society raised more than $5,500 for the American Cancer Society during Shelby Township’s Relay for Life the weekend of May 23.
“Relay for Life is a great way for high school students to give back in a big way,” club president Mahmoud Hijazi. “It allows us to connect with the community to support a cause that touches us all.”

Relay For Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Events last up to 24 hours, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.
More than 60 club members participated in the event. This is the fifth year the Hispanic Honor Society has taken part in Relay for Life.
