Young Ike Team, Utica Test Waters at County Wrestling Meet

Utica and entered into the 37th Macomb County Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at the Pontiac Silverdome hoping to fare well and left with top 30 finishes.

Utica wrapped up the event in a tie for 23rd with Grosse Pointe North, and Ike finished 26th.

"I put a lot of stock in this event," Ike coach Dave Drath said. "It's a good measuring stick for where we stand. We're very young and we've taken our lumps today, for sure. But, it lets us know exactly what we need to work on and where we need to improve. This is a really important meet."

Ike placed Charlie Myers (171) and Andre Amaye (119), while the Chieftains placed Kevin Walker (189).
