Utica Strong!

Conditioning camp powers current and future Chieftains

More than 350 current and future Chieftains kept active this summer by participating in the annual K-12 Elite Strength and Conditioning Camp.

The students spent seven week in drills focused on strength, agility training, explosiveness, and flexibility.

The dedicated student athletes attended camp for 90 minutes three days a week to stay active and fit over the summer.

Varsity coaches from both girls and boys basketball, volleyball, cheer leading, baseball, and football all spent time helping to keep the program unique and fun.

When asked about the atmosphere of the clinic Utica Football head coach Tony Smith commented, “Utica is a unique situation where all coaches are coming together to better all kids. It’s a great environment for a student athlete because he or she knows they have a huge support group. This camp is just one of the many examples of how the entire school of Utica is a giant family.”

In addition to varsity coaches, Chieftain alumni currently involved in college athletics also came back to work with the younger kids.

Head girls basketball coach Tom McDonald commented, “There is nothing better then to see a former chieftain coming back to help mentor future chieftains. As a coach it really makes you feel like you are part of something special.”
