Henry Ford II theatre students have once again been honored statewide for excellence and being an overall class act.

The Falcon Theatre and Troupe 6785 were honored with the Jon Fitzgerald Class Act Award for their staging of The Diary of Anne Frank at the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association (MIFA) One-Act State Finals on February 18 at Wayne State University.

The team also placed fifth statewide and earned superior honors from the majority of their judges in the categories of Acting (Physical and Vocal); Technical (Properties & Sound; Costumes & Makeup; Innovation; Stage Mechanics; Tempo & Pacing; and Overall Presentation.

“We are so proud to have mounted a beautiful show that shares an important and relevant story,” said Henry Ford II Theatre Director Kirstin Carolin. “We all know Ford II has the best students.”

The MIFA one act play competition challenges students to create, stage and perform a play in 45 minutes.

This is the second straight year Henry Ford II students have been honored for not only their performance, but also their overall professionalism and support of others.

The Jon Fitzgerald Class Act Award, named for the long-time MIFA Executive Director, recognizes the student group most frequently seen or overheard, by selected strangers, during the weekend supporting students and shows from other schools, one another, and the host site (Wayne State University's Hilberry Gateway Theatre).
