Velocity Jr. camps pick up STEAM
Second site opened at Duncan Elementary for STEAM-related camps

A series of camp designed to spark excitement in all things science and technology is gaining STEAM.
Velocity Jr., originally established in 2012, has opened a second site this summer at Duncan Elementary, 14500 26 Mile Road in Shelby Township.
With the new site, more than 30 different camps are now available at Duncan and the program's original location, Rose Kidd Elementary in Sterling Heights.
The camps include Introduction to LEGO Robotics, Video Game Design, Dino Digs, Movie Makers and Weird Science in a SNAP.
Established in 2012, Velocity Jr. is a partnership between Utica Community Schools and the City of Sterling Heights with support from the Chrysler Foundation.
The program is a complement to the economic development efforts housed at the Velocity Collaboration Center in Sterling Heights, a center for business incubation and economic development, targeting defense, homeland security and advanced manufacturing.
Velocity Jr. is open to all interested area families with elementary and junior high school students.
