Wind ensemble chosen for Michigan Music Conference

Eisenhower High School's wind ensemble one of 15 chosen from across the state to perform at the opening "Collage Concert"

The Eisenhower High School wind ensemble is one of 15 ensembles chosen from across the state to perform at the opening “Collage Concert” of the 2015 Michigan Music Conference (MMC), a statewide conference for music educators.

The 42-member ensemble is thrilled to be performing a brand new work entitled “Joy in all Things” by Brian Balmages. This event will take place on Thursday, January 22 in Devos Hall, home of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra.

“Playing at a Music Conference is the highest honor a high school band can receive in the State of Michigan – the equivalent of an athletic team winning a state title – and we are honored to represent the Eisenhower community at this extremely prestigious event,” said Eisenhower Director of Bands Christopher Traskal.

Scheduled January 22-24, this special Collage performance is being held in honor of the 10th anniversary of the MMC. Audience members will consist of Michigan instrumental music and vocal directors, university professors and students, administrators and invited family and friends.

Utica Community Schools was recently named one of the nation’s best communities for music education by the NAMM Foundation.
