Today's riddle: What has a tail, but no body? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Contract – Unpaid invoices (milawyersweekly.com) — A Michigan Business Court judge has ruled that the owner of the Vanguard Center office building on West 10 Mile in Southfield must pay Custodial Building Services $143,320.87 for unpaid janitorial work and supplies. The defendant, HJH Southfield 2, LLC, did not contest the motion, and the court also opened the door for the cleaning company to seek attorney fees and interest.
2. London-based Horse Powertrain Opens North American Office in Southfield (dbusiness.com) — Horse Powertrain has chosen Southfield Town Center for its new 7,178‑square‑foot North American office, bringing 32 jobs in areas like procurement, marketing, and HR. The London-based low-emission powertrain company aims to work closely with Michigan automakers on hybrid and combustion technologies, strengthening Southfield's role in the region's automotive ecosystem.
3. Police: Southfield driver crashes through warehouse gate (bnd.com) — A 24-year-old Southfield-area man is accused of sideswiping another driver on I-75 near Monroe, then fleeing and crashing through a locked warehouse gate on East Elm Avenue. Police say the early Sunday incident caused heavy property damage but no injuries, and they're seeking a reckless driving charge through the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office. Citations have already been issued.
4. Human trafficking, prostitution case emerges out of Madison Heights; investigation ongoing (theoaklandpress.com) — Human trafficking and prostitution charges in a Madison Heights investigation involve alleged activity across several Metro Detroit cities, including Southfield. Police say at least one adult victim was trafficked around the region, and investigators are still working to identify more possible victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact Madison Heights detectives as the case moves toward a Sept. 18 court hearing.
