The Clinton Township teenager lost control of her car on 19 Mile Road and crashed through some fences and a garage after sideswiping an SUV.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 17-year-old girl died Tuesday night after crashing her car into a Clinton Township home's garage, police said.
Police said the teenager from Clinton Township was driving a silver Chevy Cobalt on eastbound 19 Mile and Romeo Plank roads near Chippewa Valley High School at 7:30 p.m., when she sideswiped a 2013 Ford Explorer going in the same direction.
That's when the teen driver lost control of her Cobalt, sending the car off-road over a curb through a wooden and cyclone fence, before ultimately crashing into a detached garage, police said.
