FRASER, MI — A Detroit-area man won $1 million Powerball prize with a lucky set of numbers he got from a Zoltar machine in Las Vegas 30 years ago, according to lottery officials.
Stephen Huesgen, 56, of Fraser, bought the winning Powerball ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
The ticket matched the five white balls (24-29-32-49-63) in the April 22 drawing to win a $1 million prize, according to lottery officials.
"About 30 years ago, I was in Las Vegas and got a fortune from a Zoltar machine," Huesgen told lottery officials.
The fortune-teller machine gave him a set of lucky numbers, which he said he's played on lottery games ever since.
"The morning after the Powerball drawing, I saw an email from the Lottery, which is when I found out I’d won a $1 million Powerball prize. I yelled to my wife: ‘Is this real?’ I don’t think this is going to fully hit me until I cash the check," Huesgen said.
With his winnings, Huesgen said he plans to pay off his house and car, take a vacation and save for retirement.
