ROSEVILLE, MI — A popular metro Detroit eatery will permanently close down next month to make way for a new Sheetz gas station.
Apple Annie's Kitchen and Bakery's last day will be June 15.
The popular eatery, located along Gratiot Avenue in Roseville, sits on a plot of land that includes the former Sacred Heart church.
When Sheetz decided to buy the church's property, they made an offer to Apple Annie's Kitchen and Bakery to buy the entire lot.
"The church was up for sale and Sheetz came to us and said you know, we want to buy the whole thing, and they made us an offer that was pretty good," Apple Annie's co-owner Leonard Pagano told WXYZ at the time of the sale in February 2025.
Apple Annie's is best known for its large list of daily soups, breakfast, lunch, homestyle dinners and more. It has been part of the Roseville community since the late 1990s.
"First and foremost, we’d like to thank ALL of you for your continued love and patronage here at Apple Annie’s over the decades, especially these last 6 years," Apple Annie's owners said in a statement. "We look forward to seeing all of your faces between now and then, as we also look forward to navigating our retirement, and enjoying our family."
Sheetz recently opened two more metro Detroit locations. They plan to open between 50 and 60 stores in Michigan over the next 5-6 years. Most of those locations will be in the metro Detroit area.
