No Charges For Officer Who Fatally Shot Metro Detroit Teen: Police

FRASER, MI — An officer who shot and killed a 15-year-old last month in metro Detroit will not face charges, according to sheriff's officials.

Ayden Gould was fatally shot by officers at 5:32 p.m. on May 30 in the 17000 block of Breezeway in Fraser, officials said.

The incident started when officials said the teen's grandmother called police from a neighbor's home. She told police Gould had "one hand behind his back and did not trust what he was holding."

Three officers responded and found Gould holding a serrated knife with a 5-inch blade, officials said.

Two officers used tasers, but Gould moved toward the officers while holding the knife in a "hammer-fist stabbing position," officials said.

That's when the third officer fired four shots from his handgun, striking Gould three times, officials said.

Gould was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, officials said.

Officials said no officers were injured in the shooting.

The officer who fired the fatal shot was placed on administrative leave as the sheriff's office investigated.

They ultimately found no evidence to support criminal charges against the officer who fired the shots.

"The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has concluded that the use of force utilized in this incident was justified," officials said in a statement. "The force utilized by the Fraser Department of Public Safety Officer conforms to Michigan law, as well as applicable agency policy, standards, and guidelines."
