• Parents question Lake Shore's updated classroom bag policy (clickondetroit.com) — Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores is starting the year with a new rule that keeps backpacks and large bags out of classrooms, requiring students to use lockers instead. District leaders say it's about safety and clear pathways, while some parents and students worry about juggling Chromebooks, binders and supplies; others say kids will adjust over time.
   

• Eastpointe weighs greenway project linking four cities and Iron Belle Trail (mlive.com) — A proposed Stevens Road Greenway could soon link St. Clair Shores to Eastpointe, Warren, Center Line and the statewide Iron Belle Trail, giving residents new bike and walking options to schools, parks and the Civic Arena. Eastpointe officials just reviewed a feasibility study, and St. Clair Shores' council will see it in coming weeks as the four cities seek major grant funding.
