Court Briefs: Embezzlement and Robbery Cases Adjourned

Circuit Court case against man charged with home invasion and gun charges adjourned. Also, the case against one of the women charged in the embezzlement of senior was adjourned.

Gun case adjourned

A pretrial conference in Macomb Circuit Court for a man accused of fatally shooting a Livonia police officer has been adjourned until Oct. 11 on charges he was involved in a St. Clair Shores break-in and gun theft before the incident.

Terry Bowling and his brother, David, are alleged to have broken into a home on the 22000 block of Doremus between Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, hours before they were involved in the shooting in Walled Lake that took the life of Livonia Police Officer Larry Nehasil.

As the brothers were allegedly ransacking the house and stealing items including a handgun, Terry Bowling's ex-wife, Lisa Dunn, was allegedly circling the street waiting for them.

Dunn was given the gun and sold it for $40 and two rocks of crack cocaine, police said.

Bowling is being held in Oakland County Jail on the shooting charges. Dunn pleaded guilty in July to home invasion and receiving and concealing firearms. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Judge Peter Maceroni.

Embezzlement case adjourned

One of the two health care workers alleged to have embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from an elderly St. Clair Shores man will have pre-exam conferences in in October. 

Kellie Todd, of Chesterfield Township, recently had her pre-exam conference in 40th District Court adjourned until Oct. 4. Todd is charged with embezzlement of a vulnerable adult- a five-year felony. She is free on a $50,000 personal bond.

The pre-exam conference for the second person named in the case, Fredine Walker, will be held Sept. 23 to face two counts of embezzlement of a vulnerable adult, a 10-year felony, and stealing or retaining a financial device without consent, a 4-year felony. She is free on $50,000 cash bond.

Walker and Todd are accused of stealing more than a combined total of $80,000 from William Abke, a 78-year-old wheelchair-bound resident, who welcomed the women into his house as caretakers.
