
The St. Clair Shores Mariners 17-year-old federation travel baseball team will take to the diamond at 6 p.m. Tuesday at for Maddie's Mariner Classic.
The 17- and 16-year-old Mariners will be holding a benefit doubleheader for The Rainbow Connection, which benefits children in Michigan who are battling life-threatening illnesses.
This game is being played in honor of Maddie Opperman, who fought cancer. The 9-year-old lost her life in 2009, but her memory lives on.

Maddie's two younger brothers will be throwing out the first pitch on Tuesday, and both teams will be wearing pink uniforms - which was Maddie's favorite color.
Players from both teams have also collected pledges to help raise money and raffles will be going on throughout the games. Admission is free.Â
