Firefighters Save St. Clair Shores Family’s Pets
Authorities think the fire that caused extensive smoke damage started in the dryer in a basement laundry room.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Three pets were rescued in a Monday morning fire that resulted in extensive smoke damage at a St. Clair Shores home.
When firefighters arrived at the home on the 22400 block of Red Maple Lane, they found the female homeowner and her stepson trying to put out the fire, which apparently started in a laundry room dryer and spread throughout the basement.
Fire Marshal Melissa Bonder said in a news release that the family was alerted when smoke detectors sounded an alarm.
