Fireworks Law Should Be Repealed: St. Clair Shores
Fireworks have become a nuisance and "Lansing is tone-deaf on this," says a St. Clair Shores councilman.

ST. CLAIR SHORES - Memo to Lansing: Get rid of Michigan’s fireworks law. That’s the message from St. Clair Shores’ city council, which recently approved a resolution calling on the legislature and the governor to ditch the law — approved in 2011 — that allows for the use of commercial fireworks by private individuals, according to a C & G Newspapers report.
Councilman John Caron, however, said he didn’t know how much of an impact the resolution would have. “The majority in Lansing is tone-deaf on this,” he said. “They won’t give us back the authority we need to control this in the suburbs.”
“What is the cost to St. Clair Shores of this legislation?” councilwoman Candice Rusie asked.
