Habitat Moves House In The Shores

Habitat for Humanity moved their first house in St. Clair Shores from Ardmore to Bon Brae.

Habitat for Humanity moved a house Wednesday in St. Clair Shores.

The donated 1,080-square-foot house was owned by Mario and Sue Como, who built a new house behind their ranch built in 1956. Once the new house was completed, the existing house was moved for the construction of a garage.

The couple donated the house to Habitat for Humanity, which moved the house to a lot the organization acquired through a property swap with the city of St. Clair Shores.

Police escorted the house from Ardmore to Bon Brae. Crews were also in hand to cut low hanging branches and move street signs to allow the house to pass.

Habitat officials said Jaime Powell, the new owner of the home, will be able to move in later this summer.
