Huerta Emerges As Leader For Lake Shore
Lake Shore girls basketball player also has shined with her outside shooting.

Alicia Huerta’s hard work in the off-season is paying off for her now, big time.
The senior posted a career-high 22 points on Feb. 2 against Center Line that included six three-point baskets on eight attempts. She is averaging 9.5 points per game and has made 29 three-point baskets on the year.
“She has been working on her game ever since we finished up our season last year and it has made all of the difference in the world,” Lake Shore girls basketball coach Jimmy Roehm said. “Alicia has really improved all facets of the point guard position (decision making, ball control, shooting) because of her hard work in the off-season.”

Huerta has also taken on the role of teacher for the team, setting a great example for the younger Shorians.
“Alicia has really gained a lot of confidence this past season as both a basketball player and a leader,” Roehm said. “She does a great job mentoring the younger players on our team and showing them what it takes to be successful at the varsity level."
