The Lake House Moves to New, Innovative St. Clair Shores Location
Local Nonfprofit moves locations and will host Open House March 14
The Lake House, a nonprofit that helps those touched by cancer, has moved its location to the former Pare Elementary school: 23500 Pare St., Saint Clair Shores, MI, 48080. The nonprofit is opening its doors to the community during its Open House event, taking place at the new location from 5 p.m. – 7p.m., Tuesday, March 14.
“We owe our successful move to the community,” said Madeline Bialecki, The Lake House Executive Director. “Over 50 people volunteered to make our move possible, 5 local businesses contributed resources from paint to moving trucks, and over 100 hours of hard work have resulted in a comfortable, safe environment to benefit people who have been touched by cancer.”
The space totals 5,200 square feet (a 2,400 square foot upgrade from The Lake House’s prior location), with dedicated spaces for The Lake House’s many offerings such as yoga, support groups, crafting and more.

The evening will have a brief program, where attendees will hear from a member of The Lake House, who will share their cancer journey and experience at The Lake House. Bialecki, and Board President Rosemary Tokatlian will also have brief remarks.

“The St. Clair Shores school system has been very welcoming to The Lake House,” said Bialecki. “We’re very thankful for our new home, and we’re delighted that many additional nonprofits and entrepreneurs are interested in finding a home at the school as well.”

The Lake House
The Lake House mission is to provide a safe harbor to support, educate and empower those touched by cancer. To fulfill this mission, the nonprofit provides a variety of services for survivors, caregivers, friends and family and those who have lost someone to cancer. Along with support groups, The Lake House offerings include wellness activities, such as yoga and Zumba, in addition to social and creative opportunities, like crafting and journaling. Newly featured programs include a weekly Caregivers Support Group and a Writing for Wellness group. Additionally, educational presentations by local experts are available throughout the year to the larger community. Private and foundation donations, along with fundraising events, allow The Lake House to provide all programs free of charge.
