Macomb County Home Explodes, Man Loses Hand: Police
The 38-year-old homeowner was taken to the hospital, where he remained Monday morning, police said.
WARREN, MI — A man lost one of his hands and suffered severe burns to more than half his upper body Saturday when a bomb he was handling exploded inside a Warren home, police said.
The 38-year-old homeowner was taken to the hospital where he remained in critical condition Monday morning, police said.
Officials said the explosion happened inside the home's garage on Gentner Street near 8 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue in Warren.

During an investigation after the explosion, police also found several other bombs as well as several guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition, officials said.
No further information or the man's identity was released by officials. But officials did say the man has an extensive criminal background and was under investigation prior to the explosion.

Police retracted an earlier statement saying the man lost both of his arms. This story has been updated to reflect the change.
