Macomb County Woman Trapped 5 People Inside Home And Set It On Fire To Kill Them: Police

Officials did not report any injuries in the house fire.

WARREN, MI — A Macomb County woman is facing life in prison in connection with a Warren house fire last week, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said 27-year-old London Elizabeth Johnson, of Warren, blocked two exits from a Warren home last Thursday and set the building on fire with five people, including two kids, trapped inside.

Johnson was charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of second-degree arson. If convicted on the attempted murder charge, she faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The second-degree arson carries a 20-year felony.

Johnson was placed in jail and given a $1 million bond. If she is released from jail, she must wear a steel cuff tether. Her next court date is scheduled for Aug. 13. She was also ordered to a mental health screening.

"By allegedly setting fire to the home, the defendant not only endangered the lives of the five occupants, but also put the entire community at risk," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. "We will pursue justice for the victims and hold her accountable for her actions."

Officials said Johnson lived at the home with five other people, including two children.
