Man Arrested In Fatal Macomb County Workplace Shooting: Sheriff

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting, the Macomb County Sheriff's office announced Wednesday.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man at his workplace in Harrison Township last Friday morning, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

Roger Palmer, 54, was found shot dead with a gunshot wound to the head at 6:30 a.m. Friday at his desk inside his workplace, Immanuel and Associates, officials said.

Karl Marcellus Johnson, 28, of Southfield, was charged with first-degree murder. He was placed in jail with a bond set at $5 million. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

The company is located at 41400 Executive Drive, near Interstate 94 and North River Road in Harrison Township.

Police said Johnson worked at the company with Palmer. Police did not determine a motive for the killing.

"This was a calculated and cold-blooded act that robbed a man of his life and devastated a family forever. We are committed to seeking justice for this crime, ensuring that such violence is met with the strongest legal consequences," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Police said surveillance video showed a person, who was wearing a mask, park a gray or silver SUV after 5 a.m. and enter the building.

Palmer arrived at the building just before 6 a.m. and around 6:20 a.m., the suspected killer is seen walking back to their vehicle and driving away south on Executive Drive, according to police.

Police did not immediately release any further details about the man who was arrested in connection with the shooting.
