News Brief: Dumas Sentencing Rescheduled
Former St. Clair Shores mayor to be sentenced March 9.

The of former mayor Curt Dumas has been rescheduled for March 9 at the request of his attorney.
Dumas was to be sentenced Wednesday by Macomb Circuit Court Judge Peter Maceroni, but his attorney, Brian Legghio, requested the adjournment. Legghio could not be reached for comment.
Dumas pleaded guilty in Macomb County Circuit Court in December to a misconduct in office charge for mishandling city funds during his tenure as the city's department of public works director.

Investigators alleged that Dumas had taken between $18,000-$20,000 from the sale of scrap metal and used it for employee parties and baseball tickets.
Under the terms of the plea, Dumas will have a delayed sentence and could have the five-year felony reduced to failure of safekeeping of public funds after the probationary period. Dumas will also be responsible for repaying the unaccounted portion of nearly $19,000 in funds paid to the city during his tenure.
