Police Blotter: Police Investigate Attempted Home Invasion

Attempted home invasion

A 76-year-old resident called police after someone attempted to break into her house March 18 in the 24200 block of Star Valley. As the resident got ready for bed she heard a knocking on the window. When she got to window, she saw a gloved hand on the exterior of the window. The resident knocked back, and the suspect fled. Police found the window screen had been cut and a stone was on the ledge of the window. A witness saw the suspect running east from the house on Star Valley. An attempted K-9 track was unsuccessful.

Alleged shoplifting

Police were called March 17 to after a 19-year-old man from Birmingham allegedly stole items from the store. The man was seen choosing video games and removing security tags before placing the games in his jacket and pants. He is also alleged to have taken the tags off a pair of sunglasses and put them on. He allegedly left the store without paying for the items, including the video games, toilet cleaner, sunglasses, lotion and kitchen shears, and was detained. Police are investigating.

Items stolen from car

Police were called March 18 after a couple reported that someone had broken out the window of their car parked in the lot of the and stole a purse with cash, keys and credit cards.

Hand tools stolen

A homeowner in the 29200 block of Jane reported March 18 that someone broke into an unattached garage and took hand tools.

Copper piping stolen

Copper pipes were reported cut and removed March 19 from the exterior of the

Catalytic converter stolen

A catalytic converter was reported stolen March 19 from a Grand Am in 800 block of Sunset Lane.
