Police Blotter: Police Investigate Armed Robbery and Identity Theft

Attempted medicine theft

Police are investigating the attempted theft Monday of two packages of cough medicine from the CVS at 24001 Harper. As the 27-year-old Roseville man allegedly tried to steal the cough medicine, he was confronted by store security and held until police arrived.

Not on their bucket list

Officers dispatched to early Tuesday morning for a couple who allegedly left the bar without paying for a bucket of beer. The couple is allegedly to have gone to bathrooms and then exited the bar to avoid paying their tab. A bartender unsuccessfully tried to stop them as they fled. Officers were able to pull over and arrest the couple. A 22-year-old male was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper and driving with a revoked license, along with outstanding warrant violations. The 22-year-old female from St. Clair Shores was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper, obstructing a police officer and warrant violations. Police are continuing their investigation.

Identity theft

Police are investigating a pair of unrelated cases of identity theft. A 36-year-old St. Clair Shores woman reported Friday that an unknown person was using her social security number to file a claim for unemployment benefits. A 38-year-old St. Clair Shores male also reported that someone in Florida had used his identity to file a 2010 return and receive a refund.

Armed robbery

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery of the gas station at 29157 Jefferson. A male in his 20s, 6-feet tall, weighing about 190 pounds and wearing a black hoodie and black knit hat entered the gas station about 9 a.m. Sunday. After entering the store, he approached the clerk with a crowbar and told the clerk to open the register, and then locked him in an office. After the clerk heard the door close and the suspect left with an undetermined amount of money, he called police.
