Police Investigating Suspicious Package At Macomb County Military Base

It was immediately unclear how the package ended up at the base.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are investigating a "suspicious package" at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township on Friday.

"We are working with Macomb County Sheriff and Michigan State Police to assess the situation," base officials said in a statement on Facebook. "We will update information as it becomes available. We appreciate the quick response of our local and state law enforcement partners and help keeping our installation and community safe."

It was immediately unclear how the package ended up at the base.

Henry B. Joy Boulevard at Executive Drive and Irwin Drive south of Henry B. Joy Boulevard was closed due to the investigation.

Selfridge Air National Guard Base, which is located along Interstate 94 between North River Road and M-59 in Harrison Township, is home to more than 1,400 uniformed airmen of the Michigan Air National Guard's 127th Wing.
