Popular Metro Detroit Drive-Thru Burger Joint Closes For Good

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A popular metro Detroit drive-thru burger joint has closed down one of its locations.

Comet Burgers said this week it has closed its St. Clair Shores location after just one year.

"To every customer who pulled through our line, enjoyed a freshly-made burger, or grabbed a milkshake, we can’t thank you enough," restaurant staff said. "Your loyalty and smiles meant the world to our small, family-owned team."

The retro-style building was located along Harper Avenue (the former checkers) in St. Clair Shores opened in February 2025.

Staff asked customers to visit their Royal Oak, which remains open.

Comet Burgers is best known for their cheeseburgers, breakfast, coney dogs and milkshakes.
