Second Case Against Accused Eyelid Biter Dismissed

Clinton Township man accused of biting off his wife's eyelid was facing a separate court case for allegedly assaulting her daughter.

A 33-year-old Clinton Township man who is alleged to have bitten off his wife's eyelid was to stand trial Monday in St. Clair Shores 40th District Court in a separate case.

Rahsaan Thedford was facing a misdemeanor assault charge for a Feb. 18 incident with his wife's 17-year-old daughter in St. Clair Shores.

The victim, who is not being named, was subpoenaed to appear in court today for the trial.

When the victim did not appear, the case was dismissed by Judge Mark Fratarcangeli without prejudice. This allows the city to re-issue the charges, said city attorney Calvin Brown.

"The victim is not returning any correspondence or phone calls," Brown said. "We are deciding whether we are going to re-issue the charges."

Thedford will have a pretrial hearing July 20 in Macomb Circuit Court on assault with intent to maim charges for the alleged Mother's Day assault of his estranged wife. He is accused of .

The couple is alleged to have gotten into an argument over Thedford's alleged assault of his wife's daughter. Police said the argument turned violent as Thedford began assaulting his wife, punching her in the face, hitting her head against the hardwood floor and biting off her eyelid before fleeing her house in St. Clair Shores.

When officers arrived, they were greeted by a bloody 34-year-old woman who said Thedford fled the house. He was later arrested by police.

Thedford will continue to be held in the Macomb County Jail on $100,000 bond.
