St. Clair Shores City Council Seeks Applications For Open Seat
The City of St Clair Shores is accepting applications to fill the current City Council vacancy.

Process for Filling the Current City Council Vacancy The City of St Clair Shores is accepting applications to fill the current City Council vacancy. Residents interested in being considered for this appointment shall, per the City Charter: 1) Be a resident of St. Clair Shores for two (2) years immediately prior to the election; 2) Be a citizen of the United States and a registered elector of the City; and 3) Be at least 25 years of age. To be considered for this vacancy, interested residents must submit an application and a resume to the City Clerk by Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 4:00 pm. Submissions may be emailed to marya@scsmi.net or dropped off in the white drop box in front of City Hall. Applications can be obtained at www.scsmi.net or by calling the City Manager’s Office at 586.447.3311. Applications and resumes are considered public records and as such will be released to the public as part of the selection process. The Mayor and City Council will narrow the field of candidates at the July 20, 2020 regular Council meeting. Finalists will be invited to an interview with Mayor and Council at a special meeting to be held on either Saturday, July 25, 2020 or Saturday, August 8, 2020. SCSTV will air the interviews live and rebroadcast them later. The final selection is scheduled to be made at the City Council Meeting of August 17, 2020. Selected candidates will be provided five minutes at the beginning of their interview to introduce themselves. During this five minute presentation, a Powerpoint or video is permissible but must be provided to the City Manager at least three (3) business days prior to the scheduled meeting date. The mayor and other members of the Council shall be elected on a non-partisan ballot from the city-at-large and shall be subject to recall as provided by law. No person shall be elected to the office of councilman or mayor who has not attained the age of 25 years and who is not an elector of the city and who has not been a resident of the city for at least two years immediately prior to his election.
